I'll have the Organic Food with a chaser of Mercury please
Before my baby (Eli) was born, I decided that I would breast feed him and when the time came, I would feed him only healthy organic foods. So at 6 months when his pediatrician gave me the o.k. to start him on solid foods, I went straight to the store and purchased several flavors of Gerber Organic Stage 1. When it finally came time to feed him, we documented this milestone using a camera, a video camera and his Aunt and Uncle viewed his first feeding online using Skype. So with all recordable equipment on Eli, we feed him for the first time using a silver Tiffany spoon. It was amazing. Eli did great with solid food. I did not have to beg him to eat it or play airplane or choo-choo train. He was more than ready and eager to try food. He ate his entire meal and I was happy. Then came Stage 2, once again Eli was great. No crying, no playing, just the pure joy of eating. A few days after having him on Gerber Organic 2, I looked at the back of the label and discovered Stage 2 foods had tuna oil in its fruits. Wait minute mercury is in tuna. So there I was, thinking I was giving my baby the very best, only to find out I was giving him healthy organic food with a mercury chaser. After checking a few websites I found out the mercury level from the tuna oil contained in Gerber baby organic food is considered low but I was not comfortable giving Eli food containing tuna oil, so I returned all of his unused and unopened food (the store destroys returned food) and brought another brand that does not contain additional additives.

...and then there were two
After spending months being worried about how I would handle Eli's teething, at 6 months and 3 weeks, Eli's bottom two teeth have come in. They just barely broke the gum but he seems to be handling it well. He hasn't shown any real distress or discomfort. He had a small fever but not high enough to give Tylenol and it seems to have broke as quickly as it came. I'm not sure what to expect when the teeth continue to push up but I'm hoping the worst has past.

First time mommy !!!!
Hi,
My name is Kat. I am a college graduate and worked in the legal field for over 10 years. My life took a major detour when my husband and I decided to have a baby. So at the age of 40, I became a first time mommy. I loved being pregnant and my son apparently loved his womb that he decided to hang around in there for 42 weeks so my doctor had to go get him (c-section).
I now find myself navigating through a life I never knew I wanted. My little one changed nearly everything I do. For example, I'm not quick to lay my hand on the horn any more, its ok if the housework didn’t get done, and it’s ok if I do not get a shower until late noon.
I’ve created this blog to get introduced to other moms, especially “veteran” moms who can share their experience and guidance.
